Setting up an Authorized User

Please note that even if your parent or guest has been previously granted proxy access to your billing information, you will now need to set them up separately as an Authorized User in order for them to make regular online payments on your behalf.

Authorized Users will not be able to view or use any saved payment methods you set up on your WVU MyAccount, and you will not be able to view or use any payment methods set up by your Authorized Users. Such information will only be available to the individual who added it to their account.

  1. Log in to your WVU MyAccount
  2. In the "My Profile Setup" panel on your Home screen, select "Authorized Users"
  3. The following screen will display any Authorized Users that have already been setup on your account, but if you want to add another, click on the "Add Authorized User" tab
  4. Enter a valid email address for the individual for whom you are setting up access
    1. If you are setting up Authorized User access for a parent or guest that already has WVU MyAccount access for another student, please ensure you use the same email address for your parent or guest that was previously entered into the system. For example, if a student and their brother are both students at WVU and both wish to have the same parent as an Authorized User on their WVU MyAccount profiles, they will need to make sure they are using the same parent email address when setting up their Authorized User access.
  5. Select the level of access you are providing them via the "Would you like...." questions
  6. Click the "Continue" button when finished

Logging In As a New Authorized User

  1. The new Authorized User will receive two emails to the email address added by the student. The first will be a notification, username, and link to access their view of their student's WVU MyAccount, and the second will be a temporary password that will expire after 24 hours. If your email was used to set up an Authorized User on another student's WVU MyAccount, you will still receive two emails, but you will not be given a temporary password. Your current password will be honored.
  2. After clicking the link, you should select the "Authorized User" button
  3. On the following screen, you should enter the log-in credentials from the emails you received
  4. The next screen will prompt you to input your first and last name as well as create a new password of your choosing
  5. Once you have input your information in the appropriate fields, you will be prompted again to sign in with your new log-in information

Authorized User Forgot Password or Temporary Password Expired

Sometimes in this world of multiple logins, you forget your password or the temporary password you received has expired. Temporary passwords are emailed to authorized users when their student sets up authorized user access for their parent/guest or when an authorized user forgets their password and requests to reset it. The temporary passwords are good for 24 hours.

If you forgot your password as an authorized user or your temporary password has expired:

  1. Go to the WVU MyAccount Login website for Authorized Users
  2. Enter your authorized user email address (username) into the Authorized User Email field
  3. Click on "Forgot Password"
  4. You will receive an email to your authorized user email address with a new temporary password that is good for 24 hours
  5. Click on the "Link to Student Account Center" link in the email to go to the WVU MyAccount website
  6. Enter your authorized user email and the temporary password, then click the Login button
  7. Enter a new password, then enter again to confirm
